Which Programming Language should be Pursued

I would appreciate it if someone could advise me as to which programming language I should pursue. _A little history:_ I have developed an application that is rather extensive in Filemaker Pro 9 Advanced making me more than a novice. I have started learning Visual Basic 2008 using Visual Studio...
