I have noticed since the introduction of Google Penguin, many SEO people are buying expired domains that still have high page rank to create private blog networks, I wonder how long the strategy will last.

Private Blog Networks are working very well, I believe it is because of the power of the page rank in the expired domains and the contextual links placed inside the blog posts.

In my opinion, this would be great and last forever if you have a good build strategy. Develop content and direct users to pull natural traffic to your website

As per my experience PBN work like charm. Only if they are of Quality and look like real informative website that share information to the users.
