Interpreting Google's Keyword Tools Metrics

Example. Match Type "Phrase" Keywords "Bla bla bla" Monthly Search Volume 2500. Now i know its harder to rank for keywords that are searched more often, how would i go about knowing, from the given search volume which words to tackle? And yes i always try to keep it relevant.
